Transition Program

By providing a space that encourages exploration but still creates a sense of familiarity with a home environment, Arcadia Montessori’s transition room acts as the bridge between infancy and toddlerhood. Once a child learns how to walk, their developmental needs rapidly shift from what is provided in the infant room, but not quite ready for what is in the toddler room. Because development varies greatly during this stage, our Montessori guides observe closely to adapt the environment to meet each child’s unique pace. Whether a child is perfecting their walking skills, experimenting with language, or exploring socialization, the transition room provides the right balance of support and freedom.

Features:

  • Child-sized tables and chairs to allow children to practice feeding themselves

  • Low shelves that hold materials that build coordination and concentration

  • Space for the children to walk, climb, and practice new physical skills
